Dr. Gregory Shreve give the inaugural presentation of the Shreve Lecture Series of the Institute of Applied Linguistics at Kent State University, 8 April, 2011.

"The Discourses of Translation" - Translation scholars and practitioners are united in their appreciation for the act of translation as an object of discursive interest, but are less united with respect to the meanings they ascribe to translation. Since conversations within the translation community of discourse arise from the vantage point of a particular discursive position or site, the discourse of translation is a reflection of a unique translational topography.

Dr. Gregory Shreve is Professor emeritus of Translation Studies and founder of the Institute of Applied Linguistics at Kent State University. He has published widely on issues of cognition and translation and is co-author with Albrecht Neubert of Translation as Text.

Speaker: Professor Anthony Pym (Rovira i Virgili University, Spain)
30 November, 2012, Kent Campus, Kent State Univeristy.

Nataly Kelly, author of Found in Translation: How Language Shapes Our Lives and Transforms the World, offers insights from the latest translation and localization industry research, and from this new book which is co-authored with Jost Zetzsche.
